Morpeth Mens 3rd Team Entered this game with hopes of continuing their unbeaten run of games at Longhirst.
The 3rd team were missing some players but were propped up with some veterans from the 4th Team. The opening stages of the game were cagey from both sides, but Morpeth seemed to be the team pressing for the breakthrough.
Most of the play was coming down the central section of the pitch, while both teams ignored the spaces out wide.
Morpeth took advantage of their slight control of the game, when the ball fell to the un marked Martyn Bott who calmly slotted home from a tight angle to make it 1-0 to Morpeth.
Alan Lasseter nearly doubled the lead, pushing his shot just passed the post.
A further chance hit the post and Morpeth were going to rue the missed chances later in the game.
Stockton started the second half in a better fashion than Morpeth and there was too many loose passes from the hosts. While goalkeeper Steve Jackson pulled off some fantastic saves it was inevitable that Stockton would grab a goal and sure enough they did.
The momentum was clearly now in Stocktons favour and Morpeth had no answer to their determination. Morpeth found themselves behind with 10 minutes to play. Morpeth were trying to get back into the game but could not break the steady defence of Stockton.
A disappointing result and performance from the 3rds, but it is a good learning experience for the younger players
