Morpeth Leave JPC In Search Of Answers

The boys in green and gold stay top after going the distance against a strong JPC team.

Morpeth 1s traveled to Heston manor on the back of another good win and full of confidence to visit a JPC team who have made a strong start to the league themselves.

The game started well for Morpeth when a surging run from Cook at right back lead to him opening the scoring after 3 minutes.

Morpeth continued to play well but JPC soon levelled the scoring with a deflection after a free hit just outside the 23.

Morpeth got a goal back quickly to restore the lead thanks to a well worked short corner between Breakey and Mooney

At half time Morpeth had a quick chat to regroup as many of the problems they had faced in the first half were due to our own errors and were fortunate JPC hadn’t punished them further.

The second half started fast and proved to be a tight contest with both teams believing they could win it.

Another early goal from Jamie this time helped settle the Morpeth nerves and saw some improved passing and possession but the JPC defence stood firm.

Soon JPC had another themselves to bring it back to 3-2 and the game became an end to end contest.

Fortunately mooney got his second of the game to ensure Morpeth could see the game out relatively comfortably at 4-2 and take all 3 points to stay top of the league
