Third Team Go Down Fighting

The 3s where on the road this week, travelling to top of the league Norton. On a cold day Norton took the lead with a scrappy goal through the legs of Jamie who was making his debut for the threes in net. Not deterred Morpeth pushed high and made chances in the oppositions 23, quickly levelling the score with a goal from Andy Gallivan. From a free hit just outside of the d, he moved it the necessary 5m, took the ball into the d ghosted past a Defender and sent the ball flying into the bottom left corner.

The teams went in for the half at one all. With Morpeth just edging the first half.
Norton came out for the second half reinvigorated after a long half-time talk pushing high and hard up the pitch.
This period of pressure paid off for Norton Who took the lead again making use of their home advantage on their new bouncy pitch.
Morpeth push straight back equalising with a goal from Ben Palmer. Jamie intercepted the ball on the halfway line took it round one player whilst dragged in another two. He Sending a cutting ball through into the D to meet Ben at the end of his diagonal run who took one touch, to set himself and then sent it hard and low to the Keepers left.
In the last 15 minutes the game slightly run away from Morpeth. With chances at both ends of the pitch. Norton’s demonstrated why they are sitting at the top of the league. Making the most of the chances they created  Norton scored two more before the end of the game.
Although a disappointing result as with last week, another good team performance especially from the juniors Charlie and Jamie had a stunning game in the middle, Paddy, Sam and Cameron made their presence known on the wings.
Final score Norton 4 Morpeth 2.
This team playing good positive hockey are overdue a win.
On the road again next week to Teesside on the hunt for three points.
